And so what did you do today
did you do all you had to do
or leave all that you had to do
for yet one more tomorrow day

not doing what you had to do
is not so very good for you
if it's not done then one fine day
you'll wish you'd got your chores away

for when you're at the pearly gate
you'll see that it is much too late
you can't go back to life again
so do your chores right there and then

I hope that you will not forget
to do the things and do not let
them wait until another day
and just remember every day

to do the things you have to do
you'll find that it's the best for you
and you will sleep so good at night
when things are done and are done right

then when you're at the pearly gate
you'll be so glad you didn't wait
when old saint Peter says hello
you will not mind you had to go
